Last term and a bit of this term we are making hinaki. A hinaki is a trap to catch eels that Maori used in the earlier days. We had to learn how to use drills, measure properly and cut wood properly. It was fun making hinaki.
Did you get a chance to use the hinaki Te Au? That would have really been fun. You used a lot of modern materials and tools to make yours, I wonder what the old Maori used to make them?
