During week 1 of term 2, Room 4 have put together these amazing white crosses that represent people that fought or died during WW1 or WW2.
On each of the crosses was a persons name from Poukawa who was either conscripted or volunteered to go to war.
So Room 4 and everyone in school are respecting the people that fought and died in war for our country.

Puzzle
In room4 we were working on teamwork skills today except we couldn't talk it made it so frustrating and we had to use hand signals. We had to complete a puzzle. Some puzzles were easy but some were really hard those ones were really annoying and they take more time and patience. I learnt about teamwork. By Hugh

Room Restyling
We are recreating more space and more room for us to work
and learn in. We are doing this to restyle
the room so it feels bigger, have more open space to walk around and have more
flow. First we need to measure each
object to see if it fits… think of the place and measure the space.
To begin, we started with the large furniture first, and then we had space to place the smaller desks.
In order to make the best room, we are challenging our ideas, talking to each other, and making lots of sketches to show our thinking.

ONGA ONGA 7's
I went to Onga Onga 7`s with alot of my friend's and most of Rooms 4 ,3 and 2 . I played soccer. We won most of our games. This made it easier for us to get into the final`s! But the score was 3-1 unfortunately we got the one! But I am still happy we got into the final. It was an awesome day and I hope to go back next year. By Brodie koko
Aeroplane Testing
For two weeks Room 4 did aeroplane testing for maths. We had to create four paper planes and test them four times each. While testing we had to measure how far it flew, and how far its wing span was. The minimum of how short it had to be was 4 cm, after we tested we had to pick which one went the furthest for a small plane competition, I came third, after the competition we had put all the measurements and data we collected into a statistical investigation. Which is now displayed in our classroom.
My personal thoughts are it was a interesting and very fun way to do mathematics because it isn't something ordinary you do in maths.

Technology
At technology we were doing cooking (world cup styles) every day we would prepare 2 dishes from different countries competing in the FIFA world cup. On Wednesday afternoon Mr Pearse told us we would be making Brigadeiro which is a Brazilian sweet. Brigadeiro is very quick and easy to make with only a few ingredients. On Thursday morning we made Paella from Spain. Paella is a Spanish dish of rice. It contains saffron, chicken, seafood, cooked and served in a large shallow pan, but we did not have a shallow pan. So we cooked it in a normal pan and served on a plate. On Thursday afternoon we made Fajitas from Mexico which is like a soft taco.On Friday morning we made Tagine from Algeria. Tagine is a North African stew of spiced meat and vegetables prepared by slow cooking in a shallow earthenware cooking dish with a tall, conical lid.On Friday afternoon we made Pavlova from Australia (because New Zealand isn't in the world cup!) Mine and Karmas first attempted failed terribly, but we ended up producing a great pav (and delicious) because I got the biggest piece! I decorated mine with cream, sprinkles and kiwi fruit!
